by LTS Middle School Students:

The LTS Middle School had an amazing first month of school! In the first week of school, the entire middle school along with the teachers ventured to the IMS baseball fields for a day of outdoor fun! We spent the morning playing kickball, multiball (a game created by Mr. Jon), and soccer, getting to know each other while social distancing. We played awesome games that everyone participated in, such as Duck Duck Goose (socially distanced), Would You Rather, and Concentration. This allowed everyone to get to know each other better and create some Bobcat spirit.

The next week, we went down to the lake where we went paddleboarding, kayaking, and cruised the lake on the Sierra Cloud. It was an extremely fun day with the whole middle school learning even more about our new classmates and our new social studies teacher, Mr. Casey. We went on another Outdoor and Adventure education day on Wednesday, September 23rd, and we had a blast! We cleaned up the East Shore Trail and the Tunnel Creek Trail while walking to Sand Harbor. At Sand Harbor, we paddle boarded, orienteered, and played various water games. Senor Harssema and Mr. Berube, the new lower school science teacher, challenged us at the orienteering station. Not only did we learn how to use a compass and problem solve, but everyone was involved in solving the challenges together. During the paddleboarding station, we paddle boarded around Sand Harbor and swam in the water. Overall, they were three great days that allowed students to get to know each other, work together, and learn new things. Next up is a day of leadership training for the 8th Grade at Project Discovery.
