At Lake Tahoe School, we understand and appreciate the financial commitment families undertake in deciding to send their children to Lake Tahoe School. Although paying for education is first and foremost the responsibility of a family, we devote significant funds each year to a financial aid budget that helps assist families. In turn, our school community benefits by attracting gifted students that otherwise would not have been able to attend. To help us objectively and confidentially assess what a family is able to contribute to its student(s) education expenses, we use School and Student Services (SSS By NAIS) as a trusted third party. The SSS analysis of a family’s “Estimated Family Contribution (EFC)” is a critical component of our financial aid decision. However, it is just a start. To make our final financial aid award decisions, we use the SSS figures as the baseline for our own additional review, taking into consideration our total financial aid budget, other information we may have collected, our school’s policies and priorities, and the needs of our entire applicant pool. Due to circumstances like these, and others, our school may ask your family to contribute more or less to tuition than what is estimated on the SSS Family Report.
Everyone seeking assistance must follow the same process and procedure annually in order to be considered for an award. Our budget is limited. Please help us help you by submitting the requisite forms early, while funds still exist.
In order to demonstrate need, families must complete the following steps:
1) Fill out a Parent’s Financial Statement at: https://sss.secure.force.com/familyportal
2) The Head of School, Assistant Head, and Business Manager make up the school’s Financial Aid Committee and review all financial assistance applicants. The Committee bases its decisions not only upon a family’s demonstrated need but also upon the number of applicants for specific classes and the impact on the total financial assistance budget. At all times, the confidentiality of the applicants is respected,
3) Award letters will be mailed to families once a decision has been rendered by the Financial Assistance Committee. Should you have any questions, please contact Robert E. Graves, Head of School, at firstname.lastname@example.org
Lake Tahoe School acknowledges the importance of protecting the privacy of all financial aid applicants. The information we collect is used exclusively to determine need and is not shared with anyone other than the Financial Assistance Committee.
