Tuition Assistance

Lake Tahoe School is committed to enrolling mission appropriate and deserving students regardless of financial background, and to maintaining a balanced, diverse community of students representing a variety of cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. We strive, through our generous tuition assistance, to bring the cost of a Lake Tahoe School education within reach of any family.

Tuition assistance at Lake Tahoe School is based entirely on need. To help us objectively and confidentially assess what a family is able to contribute to its student(s) education expenses, we use School and Student Services (SSS By NAIS) as a trusted third party. The SSS analysis of a family’s “Estimated Family Contribution (EFC)” is a critical component of our tuition assistance decision. The maximum assistance award to a recipient for each school year is 90% of the applicable academic year’s total tuition.

The 10% nonrefundable deposit is required for all students, including assistance recipients. However, assistance applicants are not required to pay the deposit until the amount of their assistance award has been determined. If this creates a hardship please contact the Business Office to make payment arrangements for the deposit.

Everyone seeking assistance must follow the same process annually in order to be considered for an award. Please help us help you by submitting the requisite forms as early as possible.

In order to demonstrate need, families must complete the following steps:

1) Fill out a Parent’s Financial Statement here.

2) The Head of School, Assistant Head/Director of Admissions, and Business Manager make up the school’s Tuition Assistance Committee and review all tuition assistance applicants. The Committee bases its decisions not only upon a family’s demonstrated need but also upon the number of applicants for specific classes and the impact on the total tuition assistance budget. At all times, the confidentiality of the applicants is respected.

3) Once a decision has been rendered by the Tuition Assistance Committee families will be notified by the Admissions Director.

Should you have any questions, please contact Kris Nugent, Assistant Head of School, at knugent@laketahoeschool.org.
