Hello,
The middle school will be heading out for another outdoor education day this Wednesday, September 23rd (sorry for the short notice, but we just finalized details with NV State Parks yesterday). We will restart our monthly cleanup of the East Shore Trail and hike to Sand Harbor; participate in team building exercises; partake in physical activities that include hiking, paddle boarding, and swimming; and have an art activity too.
We would like all MS students to be dropped off at the Tunnel Creek Cafe parking lot near the East Shore Trail trailhead (off of Highway 28 near Lakeshore Blvd. – https://goo.gl/maps/XCmWVZfWs4B3uVKL9) on Wednesday morning between 7:45 and 8:00am. If you are unable to drop off at Tunnel Creek Cafe on Wednesday, please let us know before Monday morning so that we can arrange transportation from LTS on Wednesday morning. Timeliness that day will be extra important as we will have over 50 students waiting at the trailhead for the day’s activities.
Students will walk to Sand Harbor while cleaning the trail that morning, spend the day at the park, and then return to LTS by bus for normal dismissal time.
Students will need the following items for the day: snack, lunch, water bottle, good walking shoes/sneakers, bathing suit, towel, sun block, handkerchief, a hat for sun protection, mask, and a backpack to carry their items.
Please “bee” aware that Tahoe yellow jackets are especially attracted to meat, so you may want to consider alternatives when packing snacks and lunches.
LTS will provide all materials necessary for trail cleanup.
Feel free to contact me with any questions. Have a great weekend.
Best regards,
Mr. Patrick Fleming
