Hello,

The sixth grade will venture out to the Truckee/Mt. Rose Meadows on Wednesday, March 10th for a winter adventure learning day.  Students will arrive on campus at 8:00, take the big bus up to Mt. Rose, spend the morning on a snowshoe treasure hunt around Chickadee Ridge, and wrap up the afternoon cross-country skiing with Coach Jon!

All students will need the attached waiver signed and returned to campus by Monday, March 8th. Kinetiq Adventures will be leading the treasure hunt for students and LTS teachers.

Please see the gear list below.  At first it may seem like a lot of gear, but you’ll notice that all the items are ones you would likely take if you were out in changeable winter alpine weather all day doing various activities.

We recognize that some students may not have the last two items on the list, snowshoes and cross-country skiing gear.  We have a lot of these items at LTS but not enough to go around, so iyour child has snowshoes and/or cross-country skiing gear please respond to this email so that we can get a count to determine the number of snowshoes and cross-country gear that we need to gather.  Students should bring snowshoes and cross-country gear (labeled with the student’s name) to school on Tuesday, March 9th.

Students will start and end school at the normal times. Cafe Day meals will be saved for an afternoon snack upon our return to campus.  The weather in the Meadows can — and has — varied a great deal from the weather on campus, so please ensure that all of the items listed below are brought to school on the day of the trip.  The current weather forecast is calling for snow next week — whoop, whoop!  We generally attend these outdoor learning days come snow or shine — it helps build character and community.

Let us know if you have any questions.
