Sophia Rauenhorst performed brilliantly representing Lake Tahoe School at the Nevada State Geography Bee held March 29 at Faith Lutheran School in Las Vegas. She survived several rounds of sudden death questions and ultimately tied for eleventh place at the event. This is the best representation at the state level achieved thus far by an LTS student.

In order to earn the right to represent LTS, Sophia won the local geography bee held at the school. The local bee was more competitive than ever, going several more rounds than in the past. Sophia was followed by second place winner Ryan Williams (5th grade) and Grace Berry (6th grade).

The State GeoBee is sponsored by the National Geographic Society. State champions advance to the national competition which will be held in Washington D.C. in May of this year. Sophia was excited to represent LTS, and with the experience under her belt, has informed Mrs. Mancuso that she has already started to prepare for next year’s competition.

Great work, Sophia! The LTS community is extremely proud of you.
