Since its creation in a church basement in 1997, Lake Tahoe School has grown to become a thriving center of learning, an integral member of the Incline Village community, and one of the finest PreK-Grade 8 independent schools in the nation. A Positive Local, Regional, and National Presence

Locally, Lake Tahoe School remains the school of choice for families seeking the best education for their children. With its strong academics, enrichment courses, and outstanding opportunities and programs for students in athletics, the arts, outdoor education, and extracurricular activities, our programs are recognized for their quality and depth well beyond those of our peer schools.

Our graduates are well-prepared for life after LTS and competing with students for high school and college admissions throughout the area and beyond. Whether matriculating at Incline High School, Bishop Manogue, or boarding schools throughout the country, most of our graduates earn advanced or honors standing at their new schools. Lake Tahoe School’s annual High School Fair attracts nearly 30 schools from across the nation seeking to enroll LTS graduates. Beyond their high school years, our graduates have also achieved a remarkable college acceptance record reflecting success at many of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the nation.

When hiring new faculty and staff, LTS recruits teachers locally and nationally. Recent searches have attracted over 50 applicants from throughout the country and internationally. In addition to hiring teachers from across the nation, we seek professional development opportunities for our current teachers that include best practices and theories to bolster the academic success and support of our students.

A Strong and Consistent Enrollment, Retention, and Support

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, LTS saw an enrollment increase of over 100 students and is now positioned for full enrollment for the foreseeable future. Continued high demand, low student turnover, and positive word of mouth have contributed to a stable and consistent student body and school community.

Annual LTS Parent Surveys consistently show satisfaction levels averaging 80% or higher. New parents applying to LTS often report hearing from friends and others about Lake Tahoe School as an exceptional opportunity for their children. Many cite LTS as the reason they moved to the Tahoe area. Most importantly, these same families have shared that their LTS experience has been markedly better than at their previous schools – public or independent. High among such parent sentiments are the supportive relationships fostered by the faculty and staff with their students.

Stable enrollment and high Parent survey satisfaction results have also translated into financial support. Thanks to a generous donor base of parents, grandparents, and friends of LTS, we have consistently raised over $1,000,000 annually for our Bobcat Fund and Gala each of the last five years.

A Well-Positioned Strategic Future

With exceptional programs in place, a dedicated faculty and staff strong leadership from the Administration and Board of Trustees, outstanding learning and play facilities, and strong parental support, LTS is poised for an even more remarkable future.

Lake Tahoe School is near completion of its second five-year Strategic Plan and beginning preparations for a third. Past plans and initiatives have included the construction of new facilities such as Duffield Hall, deepened commitments to faculty professional development, and striven to improve communications across our various constituencies, among others.

Recently created endowments include separate funds for Tuition Assistance and Professional Development, with the upcoming creation of a Maintenance and Operations fund.
