What an inspiring season for our middle school girls’ basketball teams! We saw incredible development, teamwork, and grit from every athlete who stepped onto the court.

The Young and Courageous 7th Grade Team

This year, our 7th Grade squad faced a unique challenge. Composed mostly of 5th graders and only two 6th graders, they consistently played against teams in the league that had much older, bigger, and stronger true 7th graders. Despite the tough competition, their effort and attitude never wavered. Coach Jeanee was quick to praise their commitment: “Most of them had never played basketball before and they had the courage to come out, try something new and the grit to stick with it even when it got hard.” This resilience, combined with their strong bond, made every practice and game a positive experience. The team’s constant encouragement and support for one another highlighted their sportsmanship and love for the game. Coach Jeanee is already excited for their future, adding, “I am so excited for their future in the sport of basketball and am already looking forward to coaching them next year!”

The Mighty 8th Grade Team

The 8th Grade team proved that size doesn’t matter, demonstrating that a small roster can still achieve great things. With only eight players, they finished the season as the number two small school seed with an impressive 4-2 record. This group showcased remarkable growth and maturity, especially for those who have been playing together since 5th grade. The highlight of their season came during the Small School Tournament against Pinecrest. According to Coach Jeanee, “We played one of the best games we’ve ever played as a team. We were selfless, tenacious and played with beautiful fluidity.” Seeing the culmination of years of hard work and development was a proud moment for their coach, who plans to be in the front row cheering them on as they begin their high school careers next year.

Congratulations to all the girls for a season filled with hard work, camaraderie, and significant growth!
