Ski & Snowboard Program at Diamond Peak Ski Area

The goal of the Lake Tahoe School Ski Program is to give students the opportunity to take advantage of Lake Tahoe’s incomparable natural environment during the winter months. Specifically, this program aims to introduce the sport of alpine skiing or snowboarding to the students, and/or to improve the skills and knowledge of the sport to students who may already be proficient.

The Diamond Peak Ski Program is a collaborative program between Lake Tahoe School staff, Diamond Peak Ski Team, Diamond Peak Child Ski Center, and Diamond Peak Ski/Snowboard School. We view this program as an extension of the physical education program. We ski as a school every Thursday throughout the ski season at Diamond Peak.

The coordinators of the Diamond Peak Ski Program believe in allowing the professional ski and snowboard instructors to bring their own style of teaching to the students in each of their lesson groups. The groups are designed by age and ability level to optimize learning potential. These groups are also restricted in size to allow for more personal ski or snowboard instruction.

The Diamond Peak Ski Program helps to fulfill the school’s mission in several ways. The program promotes physical activity, which is seen as an essential component for building healthy minds and bodies. One major focus of Lake Tahoe School’s mission is the opportunity to explore and utilize the unique environmental surroundings. The Diamond Peak Ski Program allows the students to achieve these goals by being physically active in the mountains surrounding Lake Tahoe.
