Fundraising

Scholarship Program. Lake Tahoe School is building its Scholarship Fund in order to reach out to the entire community and enroll students from an increasingly broad geographic and socioeconomic demographic. Children should be able to access the best education possible, independent of their families' financial position. Private education has become quite expensive. However, through the generosity of patrons and donors, it does not have to be exclusive. A strong Scholarship Program allows us to select and enroll the best students on the basis of their academic abilities, extracurricular interests, and personal character without emphasizing their families' ability to pay full tuition. We believe that every scholarship will directly benefit the entire student base, not just recipients. It will allow the school to attract and retain top caliber students who enhance the academic and co-curricular experience for all the students. This increases the overall quality of the student base and allows for each student to receive a better education.

Scholarships are offered according to a family's financial need as demonstrated and determined through the evaluation process at the School and Student Service for Financial Aid in Princeton. This organization has set the standards for financial aid and works with most of the independent schools in the country. Currently 25% of our students receive some financial aid.

Auction. The school's annual auction and dinner dance brings a broad segment of local businesses and individuals together to provide financial support for the school through item donations, purchase, and cash donations. These funds supplement operations and provide scholarships.

Poker Championship. In the last three years, this event has raised well over $100,000 for the Scholarship Fund. Last year's Championship was held at the Crystal Bay Club.

Annual Fund. The Annual Fund will close the gap between tuition revenue and operating expenses of the school.

Your gifts via the Annual Fund help provide a foundation in academics, the arts and athletics, enabling our students to develop strong personal and ethical values. Our goal is measured in terms of participation rather than in dollars. The Annual Fund is more about establishing a broad base of support for independent education than about total dollars raised.
