Admission

Policies. Lake Tahoe School seeks students of sound character whose academic ability,
motivation, personal experiences, and integrity will contribute significantly to the school
community. Applicants with the greatest chance of acceptance demonstrate a strong work ethic, a
positive attitude, and good citizenship.
The admissions process is designed to ascertain the following characteristics:
- High level of academic achievement.
- Admirable character.
- Intellectual curiosity.
- Social and emotional maturity.
- Unique talents.
- Enthusiasm for learning.
Lake Tahoe School seeks a wide range of information on all candidates. This information
includes, but is not limited to, personal interviews, records from previous schools, recommendations
from previous teachers, past and present performance on achievement and aptitude tests, involvement
in extracurricular activities, and entrance exam results.

Procedure. Parents of prospective students are invited to call the school office to
arrange for a tour of the campus. Procedures for prospective students include completion of an
application packet* and a nonrefundable application fee of $100. In addition to the application, the
following information is needed to complete the file for evaluation:
- A copy of the applicant's final report card for the previous school year, and a copy of the most recent report card.
- Three teacher (or one principal, two teacher) recommendations.
- A copy of the applicant's most recent standardized test scores.
- Completion of the entrance examination, if applicable.
- A personal interview at the school.
- Copy of birth certificate.
- Copy of Immunization Record.
- Pre-K applicants: The Director of the Early Learning Center screens all pre-kindergarten
candidates. Admission continues where there is space available.
- The Admissions Committee has final approval authority for all admissions.
